Things I'd Like To See Happen In 2004 · Nuggets rookie Chris Anderson to be officially crowned the most exciting white player in the NBA above the likes of Steve Nash, Mark Madsen (purely for his dance skills) and Jason Williams (No, not the one with the gun charge and no, not the one in the motorbike accident. The other one.) · For someone to explain to me how a guy ever ends up with a hyphenated last name. A woman with a hyphenated last name is perfectly explainable, but what possible situation leaves a guy with a double last name? · For Raptors head coach Kevin O'Neill to receive a chemistry set to go with that mad scientists look he's sporting. · A rule to be officially introduced for holding doors open. A person should be free of guilt of holding a door open if the other person is not within 6 feet. If you hold a door open for someone 25 feet away it becomes a lose-lose situation. The person holding the door has to wait an awkwardly long time and the recipient of the open door feels compelled to break into a small sprint just to relieve the door opener of the awkward moment. · The NFL to officially declare the Arizona Cardinals the minor league team of the Tampa Bay Buccaneers. The Cards have lost Simeon Rice, Thomas Jones and Michael Pittman to the Bucs over the past few seasons. How much do you want to bet that Anquan Boldin will be the Bucs starting WR in two years? · Carmelo Anthony to get a sponsorship deal with the Mello Yellow soft drink people. This is a deal waiting to happen for 'Melo. Smooth. Very Smooth. · Raptors star rookie Chris Bosh admit that he has borrowed Merton Hanks' neck. · The NHL to continue to get more creative in their marketing. Hopefully the Nike hockey commercial featuring Kovalchuk and Naslund is a sign of more to come. · We all agree on a date format and stick to it. How are we expected to progress as a society if we can't determine whether the date should be listed as MM/DD/YYYY or DD/MM/YYYY? For example, if you see 06/09/03, is it June 9, 2003 or September 6, 2003? · A St. Louis Blues fan. Well that is, outside of the city of St.Louis. I've never once met or even heard of a Blues fan. We're not talking about an expansion team here. The Blues should have fans but where are they? · ESPN to be added to Canadian television. Three reasons why we need ESPN: 1. PTI 2. Playmakers 3. The Season: Detroit Red Wings. Three reasons why there needs to be another sports channel in addition to TSN: 1. Curling 2. Curling 3. Curling · Find out if Nomar Garciaparra's obsessive glove adjusting fixation carries over from baseball to other aspects of his life. Does he endlessly adjust his golf glove at the tee? Does he incessantly fiddle with his snow gloves while shoveling the driveway? · The Calgary Flames organization to be named as the NHL's official rehab clinic for slumping and unproven players. It seems like everyone who steps through the Flames organization proves immediate impact results for their next team. Martin St. Louis of the Lighting, J.S. Giguere of the Ducks, Rico Fata of the Penguins and Marc Savard of the Thrashers. Maybe Pierre Turgeon, John Leclair and Eric Lindros all need to spend some time in the NHL's Betty Ford Clinic in order to get their hockey play in order. · How Daniel Alfredsson possibly explains to his girlfriend why the two aren't married yet. She moved over from Sweden, they had a child together and here's the kicker, Alfredsson does commercials for Jubilee Jewelers, a local jewelry store. Can you imagine the conversation after a commercial taping? "So hun, while you were taping at the store did you get any ideas or see anything nice that reminded you of us? Pick up anything?"
· A ban setup up preventing sports broadcasters from using the ageless comment about players. Announcers will refer to an older player as ageless and then in the next line state their age. "Chris Chelios is an ageless warrior. How does a 41-yr old compete like this?" Kinda defeats the purpose doesn't it?
And Finally · For FourSport.ca to enjoy another successful year. Happy New Year everyone! |
